Appointments and I told my boss
I go Tuesday the 24th for my first ultrasound. I'm so excited about that as it's right before Thanksgiving, and we plan on telling our families (the ones who don't know already) on Thanksgiving. Now we'll have a pic to show them! I mean what a blessing, we have so much to be thankful for! We're hosting 2 Thanksgivings this year. One Thursday with my family and one the following Saturday with his family since most of them are traveling from out of town. Then I see my perinatologist (high risk) doc on Dec. 1st for the initial conultation and to go over my ultrasound results. He is also going to start me on Lovenox injections since I have a history of pe's. I already know this doc as I saw him several times with my first pregnancy that ended in miscarriage, but it's been awhile. I'm a little nervous because last time I was there, it was the worst day of my life. He will be doc for the remaining pregnany. I work downtown Chicago as a paralegal for American Family Insurance. Today I sat down with my boss and spilled the beans. I had to. I will probably be going to dr's appts. every three weeks. Plus our office is going through a transition of managers and I will be reporting to someone else in a few weeks (someone who used to be a secretary with no managerial experience) so I had to tell him. My dr's office is a good 20 miles from work and even if I get the first appointment in the morning at 8 am, I will still be coming in late no matter what (I start at 8:30) No way around it. Also, I felt it necessary that I had a past miscarriage the last pregnancy and that it's possible this time. He was very understanding and took the news well, I think. I told him this preganancy in no way will effect my work. I was very nervous because I just started this job in June. Unfortanately I do not qualify for FMLA unless I've been there a year. My manager suggested I apply just to keep me protected but he didn't know I had to be here a year to qualify. I am a little worrried about this. At least by the time I have the baby, I'll have been there over a year. That's it for now. I'll write more after the ultrasound!
