Appointment

It's been a very long time since I have had an actual appointment to begin my day. I don't count "Check-out Time" as an appointment. That is a deadline which requires no outside interaction. I have an appointment with a realtor to see the inside of the vacant property which has become Persilly's favorite spot to pee near the motel I have been in for two and a half weeks now.

I find myself fixating on the property. I continue surveying the local options, but the feeling continues growing that this is where I want to be. The room I am staying in isnae much, but I am enjoying the neighborhood. My sense of urban renewal tells me this neighborhood will be gentrified soon. Buying property in this neighborhood stands a very good chance of turning a tidy profit in not too many years. Perhaps. Neighborhood economy is highly dependant on the local economy. It's a slow-moving town. I kinda like that part, despite the economic side effects. After 40 years in a boom economy, I have grown weary of the boom mentality. There is more to life than a fat payday. I feel embraced here in this neighborhood. In just over two weeks of walking my dog, I have met more local residents than in the 5 years since I moved into the urban homestead in Austin. I haven't done the research, but Paducah feels allot like the Austin I fell in love with in 1977. The one that is now thoroughly paved over by progress and still booming. Not everybody I meet is "from here." Some of them are from the other side of the river or towns a short drive away.

While I remind myself it is bad business to approach negotiations with my mind already decided, I do find myself wondering if I was lead to this neighborhood by celestial guidance. It has been a healing spot for me.
