Anxiety while on holidays
I'm on 2 weeks of holidays and have found my anxiety seems worse. Maybe because I have no demands on my time it is allowing the anxiety to be more "present"? I'm taking citrolopram for anxiety and it has been helping. I'm also wondering if my symptoms are related to my age & menopause. Seems to be a lot of women suffering with anxiety as they go thru menopause. Something I will check out with my doctor this week. I've taken lorazepam a few times in the last couple of months and it really seems to help, but my doctor is reluctant to prescribe as he feels it doesn't treat the causes, just the symptoms. Just discouraged after making progress. And now, feels like I've taken a step backwards. Just frustrated.

Hi, I get it too but see it as a good thing. It is coming out because you are resting. Our lives create resentment, stress, bad resolutions and require a lot if self repression. We operate too fast and under too much pressure. Resting causes the phlegm to rise and therefore means it can be dealt with. You go down, and then up the other side into the sunlight and move forwards on the path. It is something to accept and benefit from. I am about to go on leave too. I need the slow down, sort out time.
Thanks Bridgie...I\'m coming to realize the anxiety is not stemming from just the work issue as I originally thought. That\'s part of the equation, but also the menopause thing and a fear of aging in general too. I\'m going to try to have a bit more organization in my second week. Won\'t schedule every minute, but set a few goals, so I don\'t fritter away this week by sitting on the couch!
Do! Do fritter the week away on the couch if you can! Or even better, in bed. With your eyes shut. Give yourself some sensory deprivation. Scheduling our lives is I am sure part of what gets us into this mess: all action, no reflection, for years, and years, and years. (talking about myself here)
It took me a long time after the breakup to get used to my new old face. Somehow I had thought I was still 24 all the way through the relationship and at the end had to confront someone who was 40 and perimenopausal. Relationship gone, and no more children possible? it was a shock. I felt like I had lost my womanhood. And I could suddenly see the wrinkles and it was a horror. It has been hard to accept but I force myself to look in the mirror and that is helping.
Pamper yourself. Go laze on the beach (if it\'s summer there? It\'s winter here) or go to the beauty salon. Rest, relax, rejuvenate. Feed your spirit, don\'t work. :D
