Another Week Begins
Monday, June 29, 2009 – 10:30 A.M. I managed to stick to my plan yesterday. Resting came easily, and I even got to do some much-wanted reading. During the afternoon, my brother called. That gave me a real shock. He said he was concerned and worried about all the problems I'm having, and wanted to know what he could do to help me. He did not accept my standard "nothing" reply, and the longer we talked, the more I began to believe that he really did want to help me in some way. He insisted that he was going to come see me this week, so I said that Thursday would be okay. I told him about the problems I'm having in getting my cell phone to work, and he said that he would go with me to the Cricket store, which is about six blocks from where I live. I questioned whether he could walk that far and back, but he assured me he walked farther than that in walking his daughter's dogs each day. After we get the cell phone taken care of, he is going to come back to my apartment and we are going to have lunch together. I have a secret plan whereby he is going to buy my lunch at a Subway store on the way home. Sometimes I can be trickier than he can. I'm going to spend the remainder of today trying to finish the book that I started several weeks ago, but never really got into until yesterday. The only reason I stopped reading it was because it was time to go to bed last night.
