Another step completed
One of the problems I've been facing has been the dog that I got for my girl last year. I'm not a dog person, and being so desperately broke, I cannot afford to take the dog to the vet for her annual shots, etc. The last time it cost me over $300, and I just can't afford it. Also, none of my family are dog people, and of all the people that I go to visit, and all of them are many hours away, there is only 1 that will allow me to bring the dog with me. My mother and daughters all do not want the dog in their house, as if the dog leaks poop as she walks, and will scratch up their hard wood floors, etc. So every time I go for a visit, I have to rely on my brother to take care of her, and he refuses. Thanksgiving is coming up, and I am supposed to take the girl to New Hampshire and spend the night with my daughter, and my brother is heading to RI for an extended weekend, and there was no one to take care of the dog. The nearest kennel, which costs $50 per night, would extend the trip, which is already many hours long, by a few more hours, even if I could afford that, which I can't. Add to that that the dog was biting her fur off and sleeping alot. I really think that the dog was getting depressed - and why not. Trapped in the house most of the time with the girl only paying attention to her a couple of times a week. I put an appeal out for someone to give the dog a better home, and found someone. Yesterday I dropped her off with them, and they are a family of dog people, so she can go with them wherever they go, and they have a large family to pay attention to her. I really believe that she'll be happier with them. Even though I already miss the dog, It was really the right thing to do. She'll be happier and I will have less stress because of her.
