Another School Year & Other News

Well, another school year starts. Daughter is a freshman & son is a junior. I made first-day-of-school breakfast again, part of my strategy to get son to school on time. (It worked.) Because of the hurricane, my husband doesn't pick up work again until Thursday, so he took them to school. My daughter is excited, yet wondering if she'll be able to find her way around, etc. My son--who knows? He was "freezing up" last night, but it may have been because his stomach was bothering him. Won't discuss it with me, though.

My husband hasn't asked about getting the new car again; I think it's past the deadline. My philosophy is: don't ask, don't tell! So I dodged that financial/stress bullet. There will be other great car deals in the future when we'll really need it, I'm sure.
He's started up his job again & wants to "pay $1K a month" on the equity line once the credit cards are paid off. He asked me, can we do that? I said that if we have $1K to pay each month, we can (but again, that is up to him & his spendiness). My plan is: pay off his credit card with his $, pay off mine this month, then work on the equity. My fear is that once his job stops for the season (early Dec thru about late Jan, mid-Feb or so), will the spending stop? Again, that is up to him.
"Funny" little occurence this weekend...there's this couple we're acquainted with, L (wife) & G (husband). G has been self-employed for many years as a certain kind of contractor. He is good at what he does, but he does not work well (goes too slow, does things his own way rather than the client's, etc.), so he has not been getting much business. Since they have a kid in college, L is now working 2 jobs. On FB, she said she worked 75 hours this past week. I mentioned this to my husband & how L works 2 jobs. Husband says, "So what's G's problem? Can't he get a job?" I'm thinking, "Hello?!? What have I been dealing with for 6 months?" The irony...
In other news, my mom finally sold her house & is moving to an apartment. I guess she needs some help in moving boxes & things & I know my sister wants nothing to do with this move, so guess who, in my mom's eyes, is the "good daughter" getting the kind, chatty treatment? So funny...yeah, I'll help her, knowing very well that she'll be her isolated self afterward. But that's OK. I won't have to deal with her dysfunction!

And finally, I've been working on this e-book download "Discovering Your Real Self-Image." I figure it is a good step in "working on me". Then I'll probably order the Difficult Marriages book & do the study guide with it. Positive steps!
