Another old friend passes
I was visiting the nursing home last Monday as I always do, and I passed by a friend of mine's room. I noticed some of his family was in the room so, I stopped and asked what was wrong. Joe, their dad, and my friend, was in bad shape. They told me that they hadn't expected him to live through the night. I talked to the daughters and grandaughters that were there and I asked them if they would like for me to have prayer with them. One of the daughters asked me to ask Jesus to send the angels to get her dad and I said I would. We all joined hands around Joe's bed and I asked God to send the angels down and take Joe to Heaven, just like He did with Lazarus. Joe had been a Christian man for many years and was a faithful servant of his church. After the prayer, I hugged the girls and went on with my other visits then, left the Nursing home. Wednesday, I went back to the Nursing home to play piano for the residents there, as i do every month. I had gotten word that Joe had passed away. Before going to the Nursing home, I made up my song list and every one was a church song. I had Joe in mind as I made up my list and I planned on dedicating this "concert" in memory of Joe Harner. When I got to the nursing home Wed. , there set Joe's widow and one of his daughters and she motioned for me to come to their table. I went over and offered my sympathy to them and his daughter said "Pee Wee, God answered your prayer, daddy went to be with the Lord less than 30 minutes after you prayed with us." I felt so humbled . Due to other appointments, etc., I didn't get to attend his visitation or his funeral but, the time I spent with him, in his room around his bed, praying with his family in a circle of prayer, was blessing enough for me. I am a priviledged man to have known Joe Harner as my friend. joe was 91.
