Another half day

Well, I had to leave work early again today because the pain was so bad and I just couldn't take the weakness. It feels like I have a severe case of the flu or got hit by a Mack truck, maybe both! lol  I am so worried about jeopardizing my job. I try to make it through the day but lately it's just been so hard. How can something cause so much pain and fatigue and not be a serious disease?? And how can I be so fatigued but can't sleep at night or when I do get to sleep, why can't my body stay asleep? It's crazy.  I think the only thing on my body that does not hurt are my ear lobes and my hair (yickes, maybe I shouldn't have said that,, next thing you know my ear lobes will be throbbing and I won't be able to get a hair cut cuz it will hurt! lol)  I took a pain pill when I got home from work and it didn't really help much at all. Does anyone else have that at times? This is really ticking me off to feel like this, I want the old me back and if I could BOY would I do things differently! I would take every bike ride and walk, I would appreciate sleep and I would dance, dance,  dance...maybe even join a river dance troupe (ok, I am pushing it there, but you get my drift). This comes in waves right, this real bad pain...it will get better right??  I am going to see my doctor today and talk about new meds.  I cannot swallow pills so everything I take has to be liquid or can be crushed. I found out the hard way that Lyrica should not be opened up and consumed in applesauce! My doctor was the one who told me to do that by the way.  I need to go lay back down, please include me in your prayers today.  Thanks for listening to me :)  Carol

Will do, Carol (include you in my prayers today). I so get what you are saying. I miss the simple things, too, that I used to take for granted. Plus, I\'ve gained weight because of being so sedentary, which isn\'t helping anything! I\'m sorry that you have to deal with the added stress of work. Please rest up as much as you can, because that\'s really what your body needs right now. Hugs ~ Sherry

hey, I am saying a prayer for you. You know what? I think those are the two thinks on me that do not hurt. Wow, we have to laugh and look on the bright side. hee hee You will have better days. Listen to your body. Be good to yourself. Find a happy medium. I know, I know... after 10 years... I am still trying. With God\'s grace I take a day at a time. Easier said than done. But let\'s encourage one another. Hang in there sweetie. Big ole hugs.

Please try not to stress too much if you can help it Carol. That just makes this worse. Stress makes the pain worse and everything else. If you can try and stay calm, hopefully your symptoms will subside a bit. I will pray for you and keep you in my thoughts. I know how you feel. It isn\'t easy. Take care dear Carol.
Blessings and hugs

Carol, you are describing exactly how most of us feel when our fibro goes into flare mode. Yes, it should go back into remission, but no one can tell you when that will happen.

I have been dealing with the \'ups & downs\' & daily pain of fibro for 24 years now, so every time a flare happens to me, I hope I have the flu.

Your Mack truck feeling is right on too. Have many times have I used that exact description. Unfortunately none of us knows how long a major flare may last. From 1987 to 2006, mine would usually last 4 to 6 months but since 2006, I have only been in remission for about 4 to 6 months & that was during the last half of 2007. My current flare started in Jan. of 2008

Not trying to be \'a thorn in your side\', just sharing the truth with you. I feel you would appeciate that more than a \'fib\'.

I agree with the others that you need to rest as much as possible & learn to listen to your body. Doctors can be helpful & some meds may work (they don\'t for me), but remember it is your body & only you know exactly how you feel, they have no way to measure it like they do other diseases.

All of us who have commented so far are members of CFF like you - don\'t be afraid to post your needs there. I am joining the others in prayer for you.

Hugs....Mike

so many people seem to think if it won\'t kill you then it isn\'t serious, but i think fibro is very serious, it is very debilitating. can I say that it will get better, well for me yes it does. i have good days and I have bad days. once I have a bad day I MUST take it really easy for a day or too if I can I find that helps. others seem to almost always have bad day\'s. I do have many of times that the meds don\'t help. I use heat and I only take tylonal for the pain. I am managing at this point but I can no longer work a full time job. I word 2 hours a day and it is a very easy job. but before I found this one I stayed at home and did only house work and went out sometimes. I was starting to go nuts being at home all the time. I have to ask though, why it is that you can\'t take pills. myself when I take pills they tend to gets stuck in my throat so I have to eat food with them to help push them down ,is this same for you. if it is I find bread to help the most. I will keep you in my prayers Hugs polly

Carol, that is the way I have been feeling since 2001. that was when this flare up started. I have some good days where there is little pain but it\'s always there and limits my activity when I have a bad day (like yesterday). Luckily I have a job where I sit and answer phones for 8 hours a day and not standing, but even then it can be rough when I get all stiff and sore. I too am not trying to scare you or be the bearer of bad news, just trying to let you know that we all are unique but have some of the same issues and you are not alone here.
I will be praying for you. I hope this bad flare up is over soon for you.

Carol, I have flares that last part of a day, and other days with fairly mild Fibro pain. Probably always hurts a little. Seems to flare when the barometric pressure does a big change, or when the humidity is very high. I\'m surprised that so many have flares lasting months or years, I hope that is not the deal in your case.
You will find out much from the Fibro page about the disease, and CFF seems to give a lot of the support and understanding and leaning on God that helps get us through it all.
Glad you\'ve joined up with CFF. See you there for sure.
