Another friend Passes

I just did a funeral for another friend today who was 83 years old.  He had been in the alzheimers unit here in the local nursing home for about 2 years.  I have known him and his family for a long long time.  He never was much of a church going man but, his favorite scripture was John 3:16 and I used that text for my message today.  He didn't like a lot of the local preachers but, he liked me and when I would do the devotions at the Nursing Home, he always wanted to come hear me preach.  He would also come to hear me play a piano concert there but when others would be there to play, he would stay in his room.  He had a special connection with me even though he had alzheimers in his later years.  I am glad to have been there for him then, and to be there now for his family.
