another entry to the ranks of discarded parents
Hi there to all of you. I have been lurking around on this site for some months now and have found it a great source of support. LikeĀ many others divorce played a role in my now adult children's (one son and two daughters) estranging from me, but as adults, they have written their own life scripts and it's a lot easier to just write me out than to face the truth, which is of course much messier. As I read some of your entries I feel grateful that at least I have been spared the verbal abuse that some of you have been subjected to, but even after many years sometimes the silence can become overwhelming. I work hard to not feel that I wasted my time as a devoted mother when they were growing up and I find it ironic that many of the young women I work with as a midwife hold me in such high regard and value the care I give them. I'm not the only one missing out here; so are my children, but they may never come to appreciate this. What a legacy they are creating to hand down to any children they may one day have!
