Another death.
Clevis... our cat. David's buddy. The day we got him from a friend of mine at work, my fondest memory was of David laughing all the way home in the back seat because Clevis was all over him. They sat together every night. When David was gone, Clevis became my buddy....
Yesterday, I was taking a break after mowing the lawn and Clevis came up to me gasping for air. I'd just taken him in to the vet on Friday for a check up - everything was fine except for a slightly elevated heart rate and liver count. I gave him 1 pill the night before for the liver issue and noticed he refused to eat the next morning...
X-rays at the vet's office yesterday showed lung cancer. It filled up almost an entire lung. I had to put him down.
OMG... total emotional breakdown. I couldn't make up my mind if I wanted to be there for it or not. The poor doctor... she just stood there with that knowing look on her face. And then she mentioned she needed to sedate him since she didn't have any assistance, and I KNEW I had to be there to help. I cried so hard my head throbbed all day.
I know it's part of the process... I know this isn't the end of the death coming as there are several family members very ill at the moment. COURAGE. Yep, it's back.
Later.
