Another Bump in the Road

Lately, I've done more reflecting about life, and what I expect from it.  Basically, I want to be content, and live life to the fullest, but these past few years have been very discouraging, which is why I joined DS.  I've dealt with a number of issues which include, domestic violence, family estrangement, mom's dementia, and my own health concerns.
I recently went for an eye exam, and was told that I need to have laser surgery.  I don't have any other options because my vision is compromised.  I'm trying my best not to freak out....but it's overwhelming.  It seems like a never ending battle, in which I will ultimately lose.
I'm also experiencing more PTSD symptoms as a result of an abusive relationship.  It's become increasingly difficult to watch the daily news because of the frequency of domestic violence reports.  It's become an emotional nightmare....so I try to limit my viewing.  Sometimes, I feel like a "lost sheep" who's struggling to comprehend everything.  I have a good support system, but I still feel all alone, and miserable.

All of us are alone, no matter how many people surround us and support us. But you can still be content if you are happy with yourself. You\'ve got to pick yourself up and get positive. I know that\'s easier said than done, but you have to because this is your life, not a dress rehearsal. I used to be buried by depression, but I got help, the right medication, and began to get things in perspective. I know just what you are going through, but you have to ask God for the strength to cope. I didn\'t think I could survive my father\'s illness and death, and now the prospect of my mother dying. But that\'s God\'s will, it\'s life, and all of us are meant to deal with these issues. You feel alone, but just remember that millions of other people around the world are going through the same things every day.

Please feel free to write to me if you want to vent. I\'m here for you. Lots of hugs.

closer: Hugs back at you....thanks!

mugsini: Thanks for all your support. I believe that writing about the challenges in life is so much better than keeping the pain bottled up inside. Hopefully, I can resume my poetry writing....very therapeutic.
