Annoyed
I protected her for 2.5 years. I stood up for her. I supported her, emotionally and financially. Then, in the end, when I left her, she tried to destroy me. I gave her all the necessary ammunition. The fault was mine, not for her behavior but for my repeatedly returning to her. I left her, what, four or five times, I think. Every time I left, she promised to change. I came back. She didn't change. She got worse.
The emotional abuse, I could handle; the physical abuse, I could not. One day, after 9-10 months, I said, "The next time you assault me, I'll push back, and you won't like it. Do you understand?" She said she did. From then on, every time she assaulted me, I would put her in an armlock until she stopped trying to hurt me.
This continued for another two years. Because I knew no one would believe me, I videotaped her verbal and physical attacks from time to time.
Sometimes, when I miss her, I watch those movies and shudder.
It's a great pity that she felt the need publicly to drag my name through the mud. I didn't do that to her. It creeps me out that she has cozied up to my ex-wife and now sees more of my daughter than I do. It's a pity that the courts believe her, not me. My videos prove that she is a liar, but of course they're inadmissible.
When I found out that I wasn't the first man she had done this to, I was devastated. Unfortunately, she has won and I have lost; lost my daughter (don't ask – she's alive but I'm rarely allowed to see her), lost my apartments (she sued me for half my estate because, well, she wants half of it), lost my career (she threw a major wrench in the works), lost some friends (they didn't hear my side), and even lost my car (she had it towed while I was in court defending myself; she refuses to give it back)...
I want to move on. I need to move on. It's hard to move on when she won't leave me alone. Even though we've been split up for six months, she still hangs out with my ex-wife, drinks cheap wine, and gossips about me. She hangs out with my daughter, yet she's the one who stopped me from seeing my daughter.
My ex is not my favorite person.
I've given up on my dream of holding her accountable. That won't happen. I might as well move on, forget about her, and never – ever – put anything in joint names again, especially to "demonstrate that I am committed to the relationship." Unfortunately, when I asked for the apartments back, she said, "You can't have them back; and if you leave, I'll make sure you never see your kid again."
She's a real sweetheart. Fortunately, I didn't marry her. That's the only silver lining to this cloud. Imagine if I had married her.... *shudder*
At least I can come and go as I please, now. At least I don't have to defend myself verbally and physically every day, now. If I were a woman and she were a man, she would be in jail. Unfortunately, I didn't document her behavior as thoroughly as I should have. I thought, "I love her; I shouldn't be documenting this; she should stop doing it because I asked her to."
I'm done. I'm so disappointed in her. I'm disappointed in myself for being so gullible. I'm disappointed in the Police because they stopped coming when I called them. I'm disappointed that I promised that I wouldn't try to leave unless she was awake; then I'm disappointed in myself for letting her physically restrain me and stop me from leaving, over and over. I'm disappointed that I believed her when she said she loved me. I'm disappointed that I didn't put her in jail the first time she bit me on the face or tried to tear my scrotum off.
All in all, I'm disappointed in my taste in women and my unhealthy tendency to stay on a sinking ship.
