Angels that pass thru

SOmetimes we have no idea how our actions affect others for the rest of their lives.  After I was hit by the car in 1976 there were several people that I will never forget.  On the medi-vac out of Frankfurt there was a young blonde man on the bunk across from me.  Every time I got sick to my stomach he would call the nurse for me.  Sometime during the trip something happened to him and he died.  I never knew his name.
On the flight from Baltimore to San Antonio I had a male nurse.  When I told him that I was feeling sick to my stomach he came over and asked me if I believed in magic.  Well, duh!  I was ten, I still believed in a lot of things.  He asked me to pick a number between 1 and 10.  I picked four.  He told that every time I felt sick to take a deep breath and hold it until I counted to four.  And to do it four times.  You know to this day if I feel sick to my stomach I still do that.  I remember when he walked me to the waiting ambulance I was saddened that I would never see him again.  I still think about him and wish I could tell him how much he has meant to me over the years.
My mom stayed at the guest housing on post.  After a few weeks the doctors believed I was well enough for a twenty-four hour pass.  I don't know how many steps there were to get into that building but it looked like a million to me.  My Mom was strugling to get me up the steps and every bounce and every bump hurt like hell.  I was still in a wheel chair.  Some man came and picked me up out of the chair and carried me not only up the outside steps but the steps inside to the second floor.  He just tipped his hat and walked away.
There were many doctors and nurses that took good care of me.  But these people stay in my memory.

Yesterday was busy. Red Hat meeting. It was fun. We had a speaker from the Daughters fo the Revolution. She had spoken at one of my Eastern Stars meetings, so I was familiar with what she covered. My granddaughter (Cierra, age 2) came and spent the night. That was fun. I started to get a little frusterated; but did okay. Forgot that all two year olds knew how to say was \'no\'. lol

My sister (by choice) came and picked us all up this morning. Her birthday is tomorrow, but she has to work and she had a doc appointment in the City today, so we made a day of it. Since my daughter lives in Oklahoma City it saved her on gas to have us drop off Cierra. After that we decided to find a resturaunt that none of us had eaten at before.
I spied a sign that said, \"The Elephant Bar- an adventure in fine dining.\". Well that looked good to me!
We went in and it was so cool. Not really a place I am used to going. My budget is more like Applebee\'s or Olive Garden. Anyway, the disahes were so pretty I just wanted to to take pictures of them. So her birthday lunch went well.
We went to her doctor appointment and ended up sitting there for two hours before they told us that the machine they needed to work on her broke down. Ugh.
Then we went in search of a hmmm how shall we put it.... A mystic store. There were potions and sages and crystals and all sorts of things that I had no interest in. But they had a pair of dragon ear-rings that my Conny just fell in love with. I was glad that she had that small concession to make her happy. The we started reminiscing (ha! husband had to look that word up too. So it\'s not just me that couldn\'t spell it!) about times past. We got to giggling and laughing because all she wanted to do was find yard sales and we couldnt find any. When we did find one, we all stumbled out of the car we were laughing so hard that the people raised eyebrows. I said between gaffals, \"Atleast one of us is sober!\", as I pointed at my sister. My husband just acted like he didnt know either one of us. It was fun.

Sunday Sunday Sunday. Usually one of the day I can pretty much guarantee will be good. Oh how I love to worship the Lord. It always fills my heart to go to church and have fellowship with people. They know my history and don\'t care. Worship in my church is all about Him. Not who wears the newest fads or has the best clothes or most money.
My meds are still making me sleepy so I\'m gonna take a nap. I wish everyone could feel acceptance the way I do.

What a nice story. That\'s lovely that those people touched you enough for you to remember them for so long. : )
