Angels do exist

On Feb 1st I lost my stepmother. She was admitted to the hospital on Jan. 16th & put into a medically induced coma the following Sunday morning. This was her third trip to the hospital since December. We were encouraged that she was going to get better and come home. Then in one night she took a turn for the worse and Dad was faced with a decision that no one should have to make...take her off the ventilator and let nature take its course. The family gathered for a meeting with all of her doctors and were assured they had done everything they could but her body just wasn't able to fight all the infections. She has had Lupus for over 20 years so her immune system was almost non-existent. We laid her to rest on Feb 7th; she was only 71. I am going to miss picking up the phone anytime I want to chat, seek advise, or just to make sure she's doing okay. My Daddy is going to be lost without her; they spent 24/7 together for the last 25 years since they both retired. Next month they would have celebrated their 45th anniversary.
My stepmother had this uncanny intuition when one of her kids or grandkids needed to hear from her. She was always doing things to let you know she cared or was thinking about you. She has been gone from us for 11 days now & I had started to become so depressed that today I was going to call my doctor to get her to put me back on anti-depressants. Then I get a phone call from my fiance' that he was called into the wardens office today and told they were granting his request (submitted just last week) for he and I to have contact visits, even though we are not married! I cannot help but think that my stepmother had something to do with this--she really liked my fiance' and knew how much it hurt me not to be able to touch him when I went to visit. It has been almost a year since we have been able to even hold hands! For this to come through just days after her death is truly amazing!
Don't ever lose faith...

That is so sad but I have to say what a lucky lady was she? My biggest wish is to have my step kids back in my life..they were taken out of state by their Mom and have been brain washed pretty bad.. I loved those kids so much.. but your Stepmother must have been a very special lady to leave this impression on you and she sounds like a blessing.. AND CONGRATULATIONS on the more cozy visits..this is such great news and you deserve it!
