Angel Like People
Monday was my birthday. It kinda sucked waking up in a hotel room far from home, but I got my work done early... fought the snow and traffic and arrived at the airport 2 hours early. I went to the Stand By counter to get an earlier flight. Oh Oh. Big crowd. I was feeling a bit sorry for myself and wanted to get home to my family. Anyhow all these guys were huddling around the counter sucking up for Business Class upgrades and all I wanted was to get on the freaking plane (fine, I'll sit on the wing). Finally they announced. Business Class was closed and flight closed. Then the lady smiled at me and called my name. "Here you go... last seat... Gate 5... run for it!" There is a rarely documented side effect of Ribavarin that causes people to forget their overnight bags at the Stand By counter and run for their planes. So I get to the plane and notice that this lady had even held back a Business Class seat for me! About to step on the plane I realized I forgot my bag. They were about to close the door. I told the chick at the gate that I forgot my bag and had to run back for it. She goes: "No chance." I'm nearly in tears now (sorry guys, that's what it's come down to...) I start running toward the Stand By counter and there's the first lady running toward me with the bag! Have you ever heard of those "angel like people" who are among us? Could she be one? (Although I thought I read somewhere that none of those angel chicks worked for Air Canada, but I could be wrong.) I didn't know if I should kiss her or what. I grabbed the bag and ran back to the gate. That chick stared at me like I was Hussein Bolt the Jamaican sprinter, cause I just made it to Stand By and back in 20 seconds. I flipped her the boarding pass, squeaked into the plane and was home with my people by 7:00pm. I wrote the air line and told them the story. I kept the part about the Angel Like People to myself. Hope you bump into one soon too! Jack
