and update on my anxiety

well, months after my brother died and going on a tail spin emotionally, just weekend I realized that I had an idea in my head that if I was alone in my house with nobody around me constantly, I had no value. So then I asked myself, if I devalued my son, for instance, would that mean he had no value. Obviously that's not true and I would never do something like that. I asked myself if anybody can devalue another person that way by, say, abuse. Of course I said "No." Well,then, I my worth does not depend on others' value of me. 
But I think the reason I feel this way is abuse as a kid. Not getting beat up, but being picked on and so forth. My self esteem was damaged and mental abuse affected my brain growth and led to my OCD. Instead of fighting back, I felt that the reason I was picked on was that I w

so after 8 months of this year and 7 months after my brother\'s death, I discover something unique about myself. I had for a time thought that the being picked on that I had as a kid and how I reacted to it was almost like someone who had been abused. I found some commonalities between the personality of those who are abused and my personality and those who are abused sometimes develop traits of a people pleaser. I did a search online and found that I fit that profile to a tee. So there\'s my problem: I am an abused people pleaser.

was what?? I struggle with similar issues. We need to learn to be our own \"best friend\" I think. When I think of it that way, it helps me be kinder to myself.
