And this story has a happy ending...so far
So I never got Jerry and his kids to move out of my house. Instead we all went to the house of God and we became a family. I know you may be shocked, I am too! It turns out God knew what we both needed and brought us together to fill our needs. I am a caregiver. It is who I am. I had delt with a drunk husband and knew how to help Jerry fight his addiction. He was ready just needed someone to give him support and believe in him. He has bcome a wonderful man, great partner and father. My kids were almost grown and I felt so unneeded. He and his kids needed me! I feel whole again. He is a very loving and fun person. He has made me feel young again. My daughter put it best when she explained to my Mom; "Jerry makes Mom feel more like a kid and Mom makes Jerry act more like a grown up"! We balance eachother! We struggle financialy at time, who doesn't but we get through it together. We laugh, we love, we pray and play together. We are three years in and starting to talk (although jokingly) about marriage. We are both so shell shocked we are in no hurry...if it ain't broke, don't fix it! But our Pastor is starting to talk to us about it so who knows maybe one day. I couldn't have gotten to where I am today without what I have gone through and when I look back I see how every painful thing gave me something I needed to succeed. Please know without the support I found on DS I would have never made it. I hope I am still welcome here to listen and help and offer support. I have truely been there and done that and lived to tell about it! And I can say, there is hope, there is always hope. Just never give up on yourself!! I don't know what tomorrow will bring but I am not affraid. I love me and God and I know that is NEVER going to change. As long as that is true I can deal with whatever comes my way. I am well prepared because of the journey I have taken! Thank you to all that have held my hand and lifted me up. You did good!! I hope I can do the same for others! One other thing. Laughter helps so much!!! Try to laugh it is so much better than crying. Things will happen the same no matter which you do, so try to choose to be happy. It is your choice...it really is!
