Roofer called early this morning. They could squeeze the house in today, will finish it by morning at the latest! YIPPEE! The money left over from the repair the bank is requiring is just enough to cover my tax bill!
So I run home at lunch to let the dogs out, and discover the roofing crew has just removed the part of the house I already had fixed 2 years ago. Oh no. So I told them - what else was I supposed to do - and it's not like there's anything fixable (it was torn complete down to the plywood). The son of the roofing company's owner said he thought it was the front because the shingles were a different color (they were a different color because we bought a mis-labeled package 2 years ago.) SIGH, then uncomfortable silence. That's when they notice the curling shingles on the BACK side of the house.
Then one of the employees smiles and says "well, looks like you'll have a completely new roof" and I smile and say "and it will match!" and more uncomfortable silence. And then they got in their truck and left until I went back to work.
So now, the front and side of my house has no shingles (but at least the paper is on covering the plywood.... and it's going to SNOW tonite. SIGH.
I think I'm going to float on that weight loss goal until biking season comes....

Well, at least you will have matching shingles! Construction work on a home requires so much oversight!!!
