And the ADVENTURE's begun...

Community Caves.  I've heard about them for years, always had this impression that they were WAY off deep into the forest.   Last summer, a girl from the hiking club stopped by my office (which was way out of her way) and gave me vague directions to them.   And then Friday, someone on facebook posted a picture of the mouth of the caves, from the inside out.   GORGEOUS.   And suddenly, I could see the footpath in the snow outside the entrance!  
So as I said earlier, yesterday I reconnected with the hiking group after having been away from them for 2 months with all the chaos going on and 17 other people showed up!   I met a guy - and no, lol, not old enough to date - it would be like dating my son, lol - and this guy wants to connect so he has someone to train with in the forest this summer.   He's from W. Virginia and is a little nervous about mountain lions, can't bike, but he does love to trail run.   And I too am a little nervous about mountain lions, but am slow mountain biking, so this might just work out perfect.  And a couple of people mentioned they wanted to find the caves...
So today, after signing off a chat on here, I went out to the canyon with those vague directions and from the parking spot, I could see a footpath recently taken and followed it.   15 minutes later, I was scared out of my wits from my fear of heights as I dug my Yak Trax covered hiking boots and ski pole up a steep slope that at any other time of year would be a waterfall.   INCREDIBLE!   I didn't quite make it to the top, got too scared and there were a whole lot of ice climbers all over the place, but I did take photos (and I will post them so you can see what I saw)... I'm definitely going to have to do this again in the summer with the hiking club.   LIFE IS GOOD!  LATER!
