And Now, the Legs

Spent 2 days in the hospital this week because of breathing problems.  Had to call an ambulance this time.  Just couldn't catch my breath.  Paramedics said my skin was gray color when they arrived.  Docs in the ER said at first that I would spend the night in the ICU with treatments every 2 hours, but they changed the treatment after my response to the bypap treatment and I was taken to an active care floor.  I was designated a fall risk and couldn't get out of bed or move around the room without someone being there.  The docs said something in the weather front that came through town inflamed my lungs,,,a virus or bacteria.  My blood pressure was up as well as my BS level.  With all this going on, my legs seemed to be in good shape, but I asked for a physical therapist come by to make sure I could go up the crazy steps I have at home.  It seemed I could so I didn't worry about it.  But this morning, my legs seemed a little weak when I got up and the feeling stayed as I grocery shopped using an electric cart.  Sure enough, when I got home, I couldn't go up the steps.  Got my neighbor to help with me and the groceries.  Have got to try to get Kit to do his thing on a long leash while I stand at the door.  Hope he can do it.  With the lungs and legs going down, I haven't got much left to live for.

Oh precious Mike -- I had so many medical emergencies after the death of my husband when I found coping alone with illness was beyond me. I have adjusted to much but spend most of my time in bed on my laptop and doing what I can to have life. I drove less than twenty-five miles total last year and this year I have not made it to that amount of miles yet and perhaps may not still. It all seems rather \'unreal\' but I understand that is the \'Complex PTSD\' I seem to have that numbs the crisis down to a level where I don\'t feel the full impact as it would be beyond my ability to manage.

With the legs doing better I would think your medical team would have you do gentle physical therapy to help with the stamina. I have my old treadmill at the foot of my bed and it can go very slow and when I have a better day I do about fifteen minutes of this \'slow-go\' walking and I use 2-lb hand weights and left those to help the upper body.

As long as you have Kit to love that will help you to hold on -- I just hope you are allowed some physical conditioning to improve the stamina to allow better movement.

Gentle ((hugs)) shared.

HELLO MIKE, SO SORRY TO SEE YOU ARE FEELING SO DOWN, MAYBE YOU COULD ASK A NEIGHBOUR TO TAKE KIT OUT FOR A WALK, AND I AM SURE THE LONG LEASH WOULD BE FINE, AND NEXT TIME YOU HAVE BREATHING DIFFICULTIES DON\'T WAIT, CALL THE AMBULANCE, SO SORRY TO SEE YOU SO POORLY, TRY TO WALK AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, TO STRENGHTEN THE MUSCLES..
HOPE THAT YOU GET BETTER, LOVE TO YOU AND KIT, LUCY**
