And here we go!!!
The oil boom is COMING HERE! Just like I heard about during my ADVENTURE the other day, I have opportunities coming...
I heard on the news yesterday that oil fields are going to open up just north of where I live... far enough away to be free of any environment issues (due to the fracking), but close enough to get the FULL benefits of the people coming in to work. The city officials had a public meeting yesterday to talk about the changes that are coming to the area (traffic, housing, police, etc.)
So I have a decision to make... I have a chance to make HUGE extra money.
*I can finish my house and rent it out to the families that are coming (rents in North Dakota near the fields have been around $3,000 per MONTH)...
*I could run a laundry business...
*I could run a cleaning business for the "man camp trailers"...
*or I could advertise the dog sitting better.
I'm actually seriously thinking about the rental. It mean I'll have to find alternative housing, but with something like this, I could live out of an RV in the forest or buy a lot and place a small home on it out there (like a trailer house or one of those "small houses").
OR, I COULD rent out ROOMS and STAY in my house... hmmmm... that one just might work!
And here comes the FEAR... fear of change. Oh well, can't avoid this one!
LATER!

Research this and then make your decision. The rental seems the thing to do. Just be sure you get references and a big deposit.
Not to scare you off but my first husband was offshore oil fields. A lot of those guys are nice but some not so much. I would think twice about letting our rooms if you are going to be staying in the house and then there are your dogs.
You could put a small rental on your land if there is enough room. But don\'t let fear keep you from doing what will help you financially. Remember your grandmother and go for what you decide to do.
I agree with Trisha, \"don\'t let fear keep you from doing what will help you financially!\" And BTW that is a great message for me too! ;)
Wow the long term benefits of building yourself a nice little financial nest egg will probably far way out the inconvenience of the upheaval of moving.
I am so happy for you that you are being faced with so many positive dilemmas like this. I know you will go for it in some way, you seem to be so resourceful. Good luck!!!
