And here we go...

Nothing like the outdoors to put me in a good mood!  Especially having been stuck inside with that cough the past few months...
Snowshoe hiked today.... 20 of us from the hiking club went out.   Snow blew like crazy but temps were pretty good, and the area was GORGEOUS.   The club did irk me a bit... I was the oldest one there and the "young ones" were having a good time bashing 50 year olds, talking about how these "old" women were learning to snowboard... they shut up when I said that I was about to turn 50 this summer and was going to do the mountain bike race - brats, lol.   I LOVE exercise and so set my heart rate monitor and every 15 minutes gave a calorie burn update which they got a kick out of.   We hiked out 2 miles and then one of them pulled out a thermos with "Apple Pie" (apple cider and cinnamon schnapps).   And since I don't drink, I got cold and bored, so I headed back to do the other side of the trail, thinking they'll catch up.   They didn't... in fact, they gave up as soon as they got back to their cars, lol.   And so, 2 1/2 hours and 2,856 calories burned later, I turned in my snowshoes and headed home alone to my dogs.  And then I did my weigh in... in only 4 days, I've lost 4 pounds and 1 1/2 inches on my waist and hips.   I may not be able to walk tomorrow - you know, cuz I'm almost 50, lol - but MAN, it was worth it, lol.   LATER!

LOL. I love it!!
I too did a real work out hike today. Up and down mountains, and really pushing my pace. It felt so good!! I must admit though I cannot be bothered with heart monitors or calorie counters etc. But good for you for the weight loss, that is so awesome!!
I know I am going to sleep like the dead tonight, and that is going to be so good!

I used to only walk when it was above 50 degrees :) Now if it\'s above 20, I\'m out there. If it\'s too cold (Friday the wind chill was 8 and I am NOT a cold weather person) my friend and I went to the school (school was cancelled) and walked 5000 steps in the gym.
Keep adding length to our walking, and I\'m hoping to get back to Zumba soon. The only reason I don\'t go now is depression-I KNOW it would help but as of yet I haven\'t made myself.
Good job with the younguns!
