And he's off!

My uncle left this morning.   MAN, I didn't think I'd enjoy his visit as much as I actually did.   To keep himself occupied while I was working, he kept looking for things to do.... weed-eating my lawn, fixing a faucet, little chores.   But you know, it was EXACTLY what I needed.  Not just for the work to be done, but to kick my grief out of the way and to motivate me to get going. We got so much stuff DONE...
We went out for dinner again last night - and the whole time he gave me more pointers on training.   HE's confident that I'm not only going to finish the race, but finish it FASTER.  And you know, I think he's right.   He told me about how to push my endurance, how to rotate training with sprints and distance on different days to get the best results, how to hydrate better, foods to try and he even tuned up my bike for me!   I can't wait to get back on the bike to get out there...
After dinner, we went back to the house to watch some TV... Lockdown was on and it was about child molesters in prison and what prison life was like for them.   Ten minutes into the show, he turned to me and said "don't you find this creepy?" and I said "nope... creepy is when someone you care deeply about obsessively watches Investigation Discovery shows on how men got caught killing their wives and you then discover he's trying to kill you".   He turned the channel and we talked about it in more detail, talked about where I am now, why I'm not dating yet, and then he told me he just broke up with his girlfriend too.   His 5th serious relationship.  Yeah, he's got some issues he needs to work on as well (the big one being that while having an eagle eye for detail and digging in deep with questions may work for law enforcement, it's not good for relationships)... and while talking to me about it, he showed me that life goes on despite our grief....
After he headed out this morning, I was on a roll.... patching the leak on my camper, weed-eating spots he missed (he didn't know they were there), working on that faucet (I had the wrong part)... this weekend I'm going to be painting the basement so I can get started on crafts I want to sell at my business... dog signs, dog and cat quilts, etc.... and get the details of the business DONE...
I'm moving forward now!   LATER!

Hello Mountain Lion I have not checked in on you in awhile. You sound pretty good and it seems as if you had a deep visit with your Uncle. :)
