And he's baaack....
The dog stuff is on hold temporarily. My uncle is back in town... the one 2 years younger than me who I said I didn't want to have back for a visit since his last one was so testy. Hey, I'm entitled to change my mind, lol.
Originally he'd planned to go through the southern states to return to Washington for the summer. But then my X died. I'm pretty sure curiosity was the reason for him to change his mind, though he says checking out the trails and sites without snow on the ground was a big plus too....
He arrived last Friday night. Big hug as soon as he was out of his van and I'm sure the neighbors are talking, lol. Not only that, a friend said this morning that his van looks like an FBI SWAT Team vehicle out in front of my house, lol. It kinda does actually and he used to work in anti-terrorism law enforcement, lol....
He and I went biking Saturday - A training ride on the singletrack. He gave some great tips, and we got the discussion about the X out of the way right away as we rode from the house to the trail. He wasn't surprised about the details of the x's death. We spent 4 hours out there, ran back to the house for lunch and then spent another 2 hours on another trail. And SUNBURN.... yeah, old 30 SPF sunscreen didn't cut it - not to mention 6 hours biking for the first time all season - and I got a little bit of sunpoisoning. We started out on an easy one the following day and I barely made it 3 miles before I had to stop, take in salt, and cool down. I finished it, but I'm still having symptoms that it was too much too soon, and so my workouts are on hold now too... I should be able to move without pain tomorrow. And we're eating out ALL THE TIME.... I'm trying to eat healthy, but it's been difficult. I'm hanging in there though.... so far I've only gained 3 pounds...
And, believe it or not, I'm REALLY GLAD he came. His visit... well, I'm not really sure, but it is either just a distraction? Or maybe a message from God that it's time to move on? Because, you see, my uncle is a loner. A loner who roams the country, connecting with people (friends and strangers), enjoying life in the moment... and I'm finding that I've become that just a bit too. He took off on Monday for a ride on our Mickelson Trail and it stormed - luckily it stopped just near where he was - and yet the entire time he was out there, I saw where I am as I thought about where he was... And it's PEACEFUL....
He's going to be heading out again this weekend... has to be in Washington by July 1st and likes to take his time traveling. I'm torn... can't wait to have my privacy back (which this visit has shown me that I really LIKE being alone, lol) and yet I'm really gonna miss him...
I'll catch up this next week when he's off and it's storming (meaning no biking AGAIN).... LATER!
