Anatomy Scan

Today I am 22w2d. We had our anatomy scan this morning. I was having weird dreams about it all night. Of course, in the way of dreams, I don't remember many details now. Except that at one point they handed me a color photograph of the baby and it had very bushy eyebrows and a little mustache.
I told my husband when we were getting ready that I was nervous. He asked why and I said because this is the scan that will tell us if everything is growing right - if she's ok. He said, "What, like she might have a tail? We'll just chop it off like my mom did with me." He was cracking silly jokes the whole way there. I'm always amazed that he knows just what to do to help me relax.
We got there for the scan at 10:30, right on time. I was worried about being late because they had said if you're not on time or don't have a full enough bladder, you might get skipped. So Matt dropped me at the door and went to find parking. I went in and was informed that they were having machine difficulties, so it would be a 1/2 hour delay. The receptionist felt really bad, since my bladder was VERY full, but what can you do? So she gave me the forms to pre-register for the hospital to work on while we waited.
Just before 11:00, they called me back. The machine wasn't quite up and running again, so my Dr came in and did her checks and answered some questions while we waited. All while I'm laying on the table with an about to burst bladder. The technician was finally ready to start, put the wand on my belly, and proceeded to push in order to get a good picture. I thought I was going to pee right there on the table.
Of course, once we saw the baby, that was all I could think about. It was so magical to watch her moving around. She had her little arms and hands up by her head and her legs fully extended the whole time. We got some great measurements and some beautiful pictures. They even took a few videos. The good news is everything is perfect. She has all the right parts in the right numbers and they are all performing their jobs beautifully.
Turns out I have an anterior placenta, so that explains why I've just barely started to feel her moving the last week or so. Lately it feels like she's practicing Irish dancing or the drums or something.
She is measuring exactly 22w2d in every part of her body.
My husband still wants to name her Sparta. He says that way when someone asks her name, he can say dramatically, "This. Is. Sparta!" I told him the answer is still no. He shrugged and said next one then. I said no. He said it was only fair that I get to name one and he gets to name one. Then I reminded him that he was the one who suggested Ellie. Kind of took the wind out of his sails.
So things are good. I've had some increase in anxiety this month, I think because I miscarried last September. When I talked it over with my husband, he said that that's how PTSD works. We associate things with a traumatic event and when we can't get away from it - such as the month of September - anxiety starts escalating out of control. It helped a lot to talk it out with him. Every day, when I start to get in my head and the anxiety starts....it helps that I can tell myself "You just felt her move, everything is fine."
I'm so grateful that things have gone smoothly and that I am surrounded by people who help me believe that we have every reason to expect them to continue that way. So often it feels like I'm just waiting for the bad news to hit. It's hard to make my mind expect good news.
Thanks so much for the support I continue to get from all of you. I've popped on here and there...a little more as the anxiety gets more under control. I continue to pray and hope and cry with all of you.

So Glad everything is looking good! The anxiety is normal, especially since you are in your mc month from last year. Hang in there. Your little one will be here before you know it!
