An Unexpected Visitor
Thursday, March 5, 2009 - 9:30 AM My therapy session with my psychologist went well yesterday. We talked about several small issues, but I managed to stay away from talking about the sexual abuse. I think my psychologist was waiting for me to bring it up, but there are some days when I just do not feel like talking about it, and yesterday was one of them. After I got home, I had about an hour's wait until somebody would show up to cook my dinner, so I decided to take a brief nap. As my luck would have it, I was just going to sleep when the phone began ringing. It turned out to be my sister calling to see if she could stop by and pick up a speakerphone that she was going to take back to the store for me tomorrow. She wanted to know if it was okay with me, and then asked if there was something wrong, because I did not sound quite right. I said that I was having a lot of pain in my back, neck, and right knee, and that I had been taking a lot of medicine throughout the entire day. Nevertheless, I told her to come on by the apartment. About 20 minutes later, my sister arrived here. No sooner had she gotten here, than my dinner person showed up. That was okay because my plan with her for the evening had been for her to do my laundry before making my dinner. She left with a large cart of my laundry and said that she would be back later. As things turned out, she was back within five minutes. The laundry room had a new lock on it, and I had not received a new key for it. She then went down to the apartment complex office to try and get a key there, but the office was also closed with a note on the door saying they were having a meeting and would not be open until today. No sooner has she gotten back with my laundry, than there was another knock at the door. I opened the door and recognized someone, but could not put a name to her face. The person turned out to be a nurse by the name Laura, who used to help me when I was with another home health care agency. I had not seen her for more than a year and a half, which was why I had not known who she was when I first saw her. She said she had been in the area to see another client, when she thought about me and decided to try and find my apartment again. Laura was one of my favorite, and best, nurses that I have ever had working with me. We talked about some people that we both knew, and she brought me up to date on some of them. She then wanted to know how I was doing health wise. I explained to her that I had been having a UTI almost every month for a year, and I was quite upset about it. She reminded me that when she had been helping me, I had gone for more than two years without any UTI. After she mentioned that, I remembered that she was right. That gave me some food for thought, and I am still doing some thinking about it. There is not too much for me to do today other than to catch up on some writing, and to schedule some transportation with Access-A-Ride for tomorrow. I do not expect any problems there, but one never knows when using that company.
