An Unexpected Visit

This morning I had plans to do XYZ and guess what? A couple I have known forever stopped in on there way thru to Chicago; coffee we shared. It was so wonderful and unexpected. They just left and I am feeling very grateful. This poem  I wrote years ago came to mind! Off to meet other friends for lunch. Very blessed! xo

HAPPY DAY!
 
A friend stopped in
Some coffee we shared
Isn’t it nice
Someone really cared
 
Another friend on the phone in despair
“Come have some coffee”
And again we share
 
The doorbell rings, two smiling friends
“Have some coffee?”
“Yes, please”
I smile a small grin
 
My heart opens up, I’m able to say
“Thank-you God for coffee, my friends, my day!”
 
Wanted to work, wanted to pray
But, a friend stopped in
What a glorious day!
 
Can’t write it in words
God’s works are aghast
Coffee with friends; prayers answered at last!
 
If I’d only had time to pray this glorious, glorious day;
Coffee with friends would have not been my choice!
 
But God knew my needs
Before I expressed
I’m sending you friends
Oh, I am so blessed!
