An Emotional Day

I've had quite an emotional day. I was reading a Facebook message from a friend who has cancer. She said her recent test results said her chemo isn't working and that it has spread to her brain. At the same time my phone rang with my results. My cancer was 70% thru the muscle of my uterus but contained in the uterus. Everything else including lymphnodes was clean....I need to meet with radiologist and go over the possibility of doing a few radiation treatments for precautionary measure. I also still have a cat scan to get thru on Thursday because my original scat scan showed some sort of thing on my adrenal gland but they are pretty hopeful it's nothing (although my original gyno also told me I was to young to have cancer when this all started so I'm not really big on believing anyone until I get actual test results). So I've been crying most of the day...just too many emotions at once...it's hard to be happy for myself when I'm so sad for this other family. She has a six year old and a family. How is it ok that I have good news and hers is so bad? How can I even tell her my news when she asks? It's just not right. I've also been in more pain today. I've cut back on my pain meds because it's time....taking one instead of two and adding some over the counter stuff...I don't want to become dependent on anything but I don't think that's the problem. I think I have more pain suddenly. I was up a lot yesterday but I have been reclined most today. It's almost like this tightening muscle pain in my lower abdomen. I swear it almost feels like my staples are back in and I'm pulling on them while I move around and can't straighten out again. Sometimes I think the more I move around I tighten up but at the same time I also tighten up if I don't move around at all. It's hard finding a balance.

I don\'t know how to ease your mind. There is a real emotion called survivors guilt. The feeling is real but it is not anyones fault. You may be like I was and recover so you can help someone else. That is how I saw my illness. I went thru it for a reason. It did make me a more understanding person.
You can be happy for yourself and at the same time feel bad for your friend.
The pain may be muscle strain. You may need to rest more for a few days. Let yourself heal. We all heal at different rates. I did feel twinges for about a year after the surgery pain went away. Then it stopped. I think I\'ve felt little twinges half a dozen times in the last 10 years from my last surgery--hernia. It only lasts a few seconds at a time. If you experience this in the next few years, it is normal.
The nurse in my doctor\'s office gave me advice and told me things I might need to know without preaching. She was an angel and saved me a lot of anxiety.
Rest and take care.
