Amputee friends

Yesterday morning I slipped on the bathroom tile, fell on my left elbow and stump fom my left leg below-the-knee amputation a month ago.  It busted wide open and I lost a lot of blood.  Went to the hospital and ER doctor sewed it backup. Unfortunately, I don't believe the ER doctor has much experience suturing. I'll find out tomorrow when I see my doctor that did the amputation (who was in surgery @ time I was in ER. One good news- I did not fracture the bone! I just wanted to share the trials and tribulations of a new amputee- striving to shrink down for a prosthesis- and now back to square one. It's so hard on every one-hopping step. Please share and encourage me- I NEED IT NOW MORE THAN EVER! God Bless You All, preacherdave

Hi Dave, I fell the first week at home too.. im glad youre ok. It takes time to get used to. Dont give up. It will happen with a lot of concentration and work. It took about a month before they could measure me for my first leg, after wearing shrinkers.

Hi Preacher Dave, I am a above knee amputee, I fell three times so far all 3 times I had severe brusing but no cuts thank god!! Once your knee starts shrinking you will be in a prosthesis in no time at all. I don\'t know a lot about a above knee amputee only that I hear it is easier to get around once you get your prosthesis and I am sure that is how it will be in your case. I know I myself could use a bit of cheering up I just can\'t beleive I lost most of my leg I find it harder to accept everyday. I thought it would be easier to accept everyday but with the good lord and family I know we will both be walking in no time at all we both will see!! Take care, Aunt Sis
