Ammo Review: The New 28 Nosler
Both bullets are highly effective in reducing the rate of detour, but the former is better at resisting air than the latter. The former has a lower drop rate than the latter, making it more likely to hit a target. While the 300 Win Mag bullet has a higher ballistic coefficient than the 28 Nosler, it weighs more and detours more than the latter. I have a ridgeline in 28 nosler, haven't had the issue your having but the 175 grain lrab shot like garbage. The round milked the most out of the 6.5mm’s inherently high ballistic coefficient to create a blistering long-range round. Now the Oregon company is growing its family of proprietary cartridges with the 26’s little brother.
This couldn’t be more true than for the 300 28 nosler ammo in stock, as there are currently four different ammo options for it available on the market . However, the 28 Nosler has considerably more factory ammo options at the time of writing. Most 28 Nosler ammo come from Nosler itself, however Hornady just released a new 162 gr ELD-X load while Browning has three different options available. The bottom line is that both rounds are effective big game hunting cartridges so long as your shot placement is adequate.

The 300 PRC is Hornady’s attempt to maximize the performance of the 30-caliber bullet. Utilizing incredibly sleek, high BC bullets, Hornady created a true magnum cartridge that can easily score hits at 1,000 yards and beyond. For big game, it’s hard to say that either cartridge is superior to the other. Both have adequate kinetic energy and flat trajectory for long-range shooting. The 28 Nosler has slightly less recoil, which is ideal for longer range shots, while the 300 PRC has slightly more kinetic energy, which is good for ensuring a clean kill. Nosler and Hornady wanted to create a cartridge that was extremely resistant to wind drift and having a flat trajectory.
The Nosler ammo is a high-performance rifle cartridge that has become increasingly popular among hunters and target shooters. The ammunition is made with a unique propellant mixture that allows for high-quality projectiles that travel at high speed. This makes it an ideal cartridge for hunting big game or target shooting, making it a choice for those who want to experience the best possible results. Nosler Ammunition is quickly gaining popularity for its high quality and consistent results in firearms. Ammunitionsbroker.com has a wide range of products, from rifles to handguns, that can be used in various pursuits.
I don’t think that the 28 Nosler is any more work, expense or maintenance than any of the other cartridges in its class. The ability to stuff a super-high BC bullet into the case without wasting case capacity is where this hot 7 shines. I’ll admit right upfront that I’m no seasoned reloader when compared to a lot of folks in the long range shooting game.
The rifle comes with a 360-degree muzzle brake screwed onto 5⁄8x24 tpi threads that will also accept a suppressor. A thread protector is included for those who don’t want to endure the added bluster of a brake. The brake did reduce felt recoil perceivably, but muzzle blast was fearsome from this cartridge. Though this was my first experience with the .28 Nosler, I’ve shot an X-Bolt Max LR previously. While conducting 6mm Creedmoor load trials for LoadData.com recently, I wanted a rifle that would wring maximum accuracy from that cartridge.
The 28 Nosler fires the same bullet diameter as the 7mm Rem Mag, 7 WSM, 7mm Weatherby Magnum, and 7mm Mauser just to name a few. In terms of whitetail, mule deer, antelope, and pronghorn, both rounds are more than sufficient and proper loads can reach 1,000 yards with well over 1,000 ft-lbs of energy. That being said, neither of these rifle cartridges would be considered low recoil and they are not the best cartridges to teach new or recoil sensitive shooters on.
According to Browning, the added fluting reduces weight, improves cooling and improves rigidity. The last bit I don’t buy into, though the conspicuous heat created after firing 5-shot, .28 Nosler strings did dissipate remarkably fast in the cold conditions under which the rifle was tested. Browning rifle barrels are button rifled and factory inspected three times for interior finish and straightness, and air gauged for uniformity.
