Am I weird or what?
For years now, I have heard how bad people were treated and abused....learned bad behavior....etc.
I am a victim of physical/emotional/mental abuse, rape, drug addiction, alcoholism and the list goes on. One thing that kind of makes me curious is how I let certain things effect me.
IE. Family was prejidous As a young girl I felt for people. Told my dad "You know God didn't ask people what color they wanted to be before placing them on earth" Hearing my dad talk about blacks in that manner hurt me....so I knew if it hurt me (a white girl) then it really had to hurt them. I decided not to be that way.
I was told that I would never make anything of myself because I got pregnant, quit school before completing 9th grade, and married at 15. For years I believed that I was worthless, had no self esteem and let myself be abused; however, when I got older I turned it around. I was determined to prove my father wrong and went to college, got a degree, and had a very successful career in the healthcare field.
I have been raped numerous times and for some women they are screwed up for life. I, on the other hand, do not let it define who I am.
It's almost like people have dared me to prove them wrong and on most accounts I have.
I wish I could teach other folks how to overcome their past. I would feel like I had a purpose here on earth. I think the most important step is not only forgiving others but forgiving our selves.

Bless you my child. Your strength amazes me.
Hi Beth, I don\'t know if it is a strength or not. I have a hard time understanding how some people get stuck in the past and relive their trauma daily. Glad you enjoyed the entry.
I was just thinking on paper...so I can de-clutter my mind. lol
