Am I miserable?
...yesterday I wrote about how I was always too hard on Taz, always pressuring her and really making her feel bad because I complain about my life in Germany. Well, today was my first day at work, and it went far from perfect. The whole day seemed to be one mishap after another, and overall it was a disaster. I won't go into too much detail...but I was pretty much abandoned by the person who told me to met them at 6:45am to start my orientation, then I was thrust into the middle of a group of worker without having any training or even watching safety videos or taking safety school. It took me 3 hours of sitting around (AND missing my only break to eat) so that I could wait on someone to give me my work contact and to finish filing my documents. Then I was made to work again, then I missed the train to take me home, then I took the wrong train home and ended up in a faraway city.
So sure enough...when I finally get home, after all of this has happened, I vent to Taz. I mean, she really is my best friend. She is always there and I like venting to her. I mean, the online community here isn't bad, but even with comments and stuff, it's not the same as having someone look you in the face and actually listen. But every time that I complain about my life or about anything having to do with this flat or my job, Taz basically becomes all emotional, gets pissed, and tells me I'm better off going back to the United States because I am obviously miserable.
And what's scariest is that she isn't even referring to us breaking up. She still wants us to be together, but she says I'm better off back home because I have friends and I have family. But...am I really miserable like she says? That's the real question. Okay, sure...I do complain about my flat a lot...but that's because my roommate and I are like two completely different specimens. I am the Hot side of the Spectrum and she is the Cool colors. She likes fashion, I like video games. She likes to dance, and I like to sit in my room and write romance novels. I mean, come on. She likes shoes and keeping things clean. I like eating pizza in my room and eating Nutella right out of the jar...AND there's the language barrier to consider as well.
I also complain about the Flat because it's so noisy...it's lonely, and it has too many rules. You can't sweep or hammer on Sundays...you have to be quiet pasta certain hour (that part I can understand). They turn off the water once a week for so many hours to check it and add softener. Drives me nuts! Then, when it comes to cleaning, well, my roommate has gotten on me so many times for shoddy cleaning when she does not do it right either that really, cleaning days really rub me the wrong way. And these are the things I vent to Taz...Then when it comes to my job...well, you know why I vent to her. I miss her, they have a weird schedule, the trains do not agree with this schedule, it's hard for me to get home, and etc. That and there are so many creepy people already hitting on me that I just want to hide away from them forever. It's bad enough that I had all of that stuff in the States, but being in another country with creepers like that, sometimes I just do not feel safe.
But...I would not consider myself miserable. I mean, when Taz is over here, I have fun. I laugh, I joke, we have adventures, take some pictures, it's all great. But it is true that when she goes away I am back to being sad. I mean, I can't help it...I miss her being so close and accessible. This change has been really hard for me, and I'm still trying to get into that groove. A part of me wants to scream at Taz because she just does not understand what I am going through. I had to immigrate to another country...she was just handed some military orders and shipped off. I'm thrust into this whole new culture while she is on a base with other Americans. BUT at the same time...she is right. She can't do anything about the situation and I really just need to toughen up.
She was just so hurt to hear my first day had been horrible...and when she told me to go home, my heart sunk. I feel like such a jerk for complaining all the time, but when she gets me mouth going, it;s like I can do nothing else but spill my whole heart out to her. Again, I feel like I'm driving her away.Help?

things are going to be okay..... Taz is just feeling bad because she loves you... And u are in pain.. She cant bear that... May be you could vent to some other friend?
Its not that she is pissed at you.. She may be pissed at the situation... Or may be feeling guilty for being the reason u are there in germany.
About the bad day.. I and really sorry it was a bad one. Things would be okay.. You will eventually learn the way things have to done.. Just be patient.... And little bit strong..
Umm about the creepers at work... Honey.. Im sorry.. U will find such specimens everywhere you go. Just be serious and show that you dont appricite it and are annoyed by it... I guess.. I hope they back off...
And for the roomate, try to find the common stuff... I mean there must be something u both can enjoy.. Why dont u try to take interest in things, she like... Maybe she might turn out to be a good friend to you...?
Well just calm down.. and stay strong.... I understand thngs are messy.... They will work out..... Eventually.... I hope...!
