Am I being stupid?
Alright, so when I started the Zoloft in February, there was an increase of anxiety and my OCD seemed stronger. Now that I'm on Luvox, Day 16, and yes I'm counting, it's the same thing. I feel horrible. I feel worse that I was prior to starting the meds. Am I stupid to think that it's a good thing? I haven't called the doctor, because I am trying to give it time and tough through it, but I keep second guessing myself like I'm crazy to think it would be this bad and that the meds are clearly not working. And then I sit here and think, what if I'm wasting my time with this med. What if I sit here and give it weeks and it still feels worse. I hate this. I feel crazy. Yes, tons of other people have OCD, but I truly feel alone in my kind of it. The physical sensations and the strength of it, that's what scares me and that was a new thing, I haven't had that very long. It started about a year ago and it was off and on, but now it's all the time. I would rather go back to washing my hands hours on end, until they crack and bleed than have this crap.

we for me personally, zoloft really help me feel more relaxed and happy ... but for my mom it made her angry and sick ... meds are different for everyone. if a med is working, you should start to feel BETTER after a few weeks, not worse. sometimes it takes a long time to find the right meds for you, but once you do you will be glad you kept trying. tell you doctor. good luck :-)
I have heard from others and my doc that it gets worse befor it gets better. I personally have had great luck with zoloft. My doc told me that sometimes it seems worse because you know how good feels and you are wanting the meds to work now there for you are fighting the effect at first and thinking that beause its been two weeks you should be fixed. I to worry when I start my meds again that they wont help and whats the point but remember that meds can take up to 6-8 weeks to really kick it and thats 6-8 weeks at the rights level of meds. Last relaps I had my doc also put me on risperdol for about 2 months that was more of a instant fix until the zoloft had time to build up ask your doc about that. It will get better I know when your down its hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. GOOD LUCK! Vanessa
I don\'t know about meds, but I\'d call my doc and tell him what\'s happening. Maybe he\'d have some insight.
Hang in there. And any time you need any advice, I am there!
hi
i know what u mean by feeling alone with yr kind of ocd.I hv had a very rare kind myslef.Butnthen so has everyone else.It only looks the saem b/c we see from the outside.Everyone as different as trhey are has different behaviors etc.OCD has a way of urging u to feel ALONE in the WORLD.I have felt so alone i wanted to end myu life. But after having left that crittical phase i see i was in a kind of DIMENsion of thinking.U can get out with different thoughts-to help overcome ocd and rest.I know it feels like forever but this again is the ocd mind.I went from severe ocd to a basically peaceful in a relatively short time.I just had to really believe it cd happen. thats ultimately it.So what works, works.
ps sorry bout all the typos...
I\'d let your psychiatrist know how you are doing. It does take time for meds to kick in but he should be kept informed. Perhaps there is an adjustment needed in the dosage or sometimes another med is added.
Hang in there--I hope it gets better real soon.
Hello! We\'ve never really chatted before but I read your post in the group and I would definately call your doctor. I know some of these meds actually INCREASE the symtpoms, like OCD, Anxiety or Depression and if they do that I don\'t think you are supposed to continue to take them. Maybe this just isn\'t the right med for you? or right combination? I had some good success with prozac helping my OCD but nothing else seemed to work so well.
Don\'t give up hope the right med is out there and can make a world of difference HUGS
This kind of thing happened to me one time, now I don\'t know if this is what is happening with you, just wanted to tell you about me, I started obsessing over the meds, are they working , their not working, are they working, their not working, I kept on and on, it took several sessions with my therapist to work through this. Just a thought!! I hope things get better for you and soon!!! take care God Bless You!!! Lori
p.s. I even went through the thing where I thought I would be better off without my meds too, so I just quit taking them, NOT A GOOD IDEA, afterwards, I just thought they weren\' working, but they were!!!
