Alone Again

And they are gone. The camp site sure feels different for the sudden absence of B & K's 10 year old gusto and best beloved sis's constant attention. It no longer warrants hate for me, but good-byes are stillnae my strong suit. The anticipation stresses leading up to them still gets me tapping my toes impatiently while my tongue bites back the, "Get on with ^it^ already, would ya? This job could have been done four hours ago! Why are you prolonging the misery?" One soul's misery is another soul's savouring.

I chose to wait until after the good-byes to decide whether I begin the 3 day southward drive for GS's 3rd birthday or continue on north for to scout the Great Lakes. I reserved this camp site for another night to keep the new input to a minimum as I give it the old soft chew. The notion of driving away from an item on my bucket list --scouting the Great Lakes-- is chewing like a jagged rock. I'm right here on the southern tip. Why would I drive away? Still. . . I do miss the GK's something fierce. GD was taking her first steps and forming her first words when I last saw her at the end of March. 3 months is a long time in the life of a toddler.

For now, the chill is burning off with a meteorology report promising 80 degree air temps. The sign at the park entrance tells me the water temp in this piece of Lake Michigan is 71 degrees. Methinks my next important decision is when Persilly and I should take that walk on the dunes. Small steps.
