Almost there
Hello SOTH, It's my Friday today - we have a 4 day holiday week-end so I'm sitting here looking @ the clock waiting to go home.LOL
Jim's birthday is tomorrow so we are going to Laughlin, because that's what he wants to do for his birthday....It will probably be warm, but it's nice to have a change of scenery. Last day for kids is June 7, my last day will be the 9th. I'm so looking forward to that! It's been one of the more difficult years I have had working.....
Hunter is doing well - they changed his school & he is in a different program now that better suits his needs - he got A's & B's last quarter! I'm so happy that he is doing well in this area after a couple of years of not doing so well. He is growing, taller than me, but so cute! Of course, I would think that, right? His expresssions remind me of his mom @ times. We went to a thrift store after breakfast last Saturday and immediately upon walking in, he said, "I remember this place, my mom & I would come here sometimes". Of course I smiled as I walked through the aisles and pretty soon, Hunter came to me in a gold leather coat, sunglasses, and saying, "Look, don't I look cool?" - I laughed, but I sure thought of his mom - it's something they would do together - be silly in a thrift store.....so grateful!
I'm looking forward to the retreat.....but I hope my summer doesn't go by too fast, as I will be back @ school by the "retreat time".
Just checking in - Sending hugs & love, this Thursday! Vicki, always Jennifer's mom

Have a wonderful long weekend and birthday wishes for Jim! So happy to hear that Hunter is doing as well as he is and I can imagine the fun you had in the thrift store. :)
I remember driving out of the parking lot on the last day of school and hoping that the days would go by slowly as I knew August would roll around too quickly. The mind and heads of those in education, huh?! lol
Some years are harder than others and I was not teaching while on my grief path so that adds an entirely different dimension of that I am certain. I wonder what about this year that has made it feel more challenging for you? Do you have any ideas around this? Maybe too you are itching for a change in your life, like retirement. :)
Lots of love and warm aloha to Jennifer's mom from Douglas and me,
XO Joanie
Oh how I remember those last count down days of school too! So very glad to hear Hunter is doing better. When I cannot sleep at night, sometimes I think of him and you and pray for you both. It has got to be heartwarming to see him acting silly in the thrift store and especially heartwarming to have him remind you of your beloved Jennifer. Have a great weekend and a great summer. Sending love...
Enjoy the long weekend. I remember when Joe was teaching and the end of the year was upon him. He was exhausted. Many years ago, I thought I would like to be a teacher - all those holidays! I got a job as a teacher aide in a kindergarten. Instead of going to university, I did a nursing refresher course and went back to nursing - long hours, shift work and short vacations were preferable! LOL
I can remember similar shopping trips with Lisa. She loved to shop thrift stores and we too would laugh, especially when I tried on hats! Shopping is bitter sweet now.
Love to Jennifer and her mom.
Enjoy your long weekend, Vicky! And I hope you have a lovely summer vacation! It is wonderful to hear that Hunter is doing so well. Definitely proves that he is happy there! Take good care of yourself, my dear friend!
Lots of love to you and your sweet Jennifer. xxx
Hi Vicki! Hope Jim has had a happy birthday today. And I hope that you'll enjoy your long weekend! So glad things are going well with Hunter. Bet you two had a great time in the thrift store! Know you are counting the days til June 9th. Hang in there just a little bit longer! Hugs to you & your Jennifer from Charlie & me.
Happy birthday to Jim! Enjoy your long weekend.
Such a lovely moment you describe with Hunter! And how lovely for him to have that memory of his mom & the thrift store.
