Almost didn't make it through the song today.
Today my ex husband came to our church to sing "How Great Thou Art" and I played the piano for him. As many of the family that could be there was and it was nice, except into about the second verse my ex and I almost broke down. I know it was a memorial (small) but in rememberence of Kenny. I started tearing up and thought I will not make it through this .....but by the grace of God we did it. He cried, I had to get control, playing the piano and crying don't go together real well. At least I know the song by heart so I wasn't having to follow music. Our ministery did an outstanding job today on a Father's Day message....He also did an outstanding job talking about dad's, dad's who have lost their child, and dad's who wanted to be dad's just didn't work out and he told the story of the son who wanted his money and left home to return to his father to be welcomed with open arms..and a party, just as God welcomes us into his family. It was just beautiful and then he did a song and video that was also outstanding and very powerful.
One good thing today is Fred's my husband's son called, the one who has very little to do with us...I know that made him feel good and of course my kids always tell him Happy Dad's day. I have wonderful children.
This afternoon has been sleeping. Hubby is going to the races tonight and my friend wants me to come over, but think I have had a full day and will just rest.
For a wonderful day, for our memorial for our son Kenny, for my family being at church today, I am a thankful mom...Love you Kenny, even though I wished you a Happy Father's Day, I still missed hearing your voice.
Love mom...Ken's mom forever

Glad you made it through the song.. I am so emotional since I lost Chad. Sometime I cry over the smallest thing. It took great strength, for you both, to get through it. I\'m sure Ken was there, smiling at you both. Hugs.

That was one of my mom\'s favorite songs. It was sung at her funeral by a friend of hers along with \"The Eye is on the Sparrow. Tomorrow, the first day of summer is the angel day of my mom. It will be 14 years. I am glad your Sunday offered a fine service for Kenny and all Dads. Even though he is your \"ex\" I am sure you were proud of him.
That\'s so special, Ken\'s parents singing and playing the piano, that is a great hymn. I know Ken was so proud of you both. You\'re a strong lady!
Take care,
Joan
