Almost all good news
It has been a while since I have checked in here. Things have been crazy hectic and some major things are getting underway. We had a couple offers on our house and we are now officially in escrow and should be closing 5 September. Now we can focus on finding temporary housing in Vegas while we shop for a new house there. I am in the last week of school for the summer semester and I will have a few weeks break before fall semester starts.
The biggest news is that we have finished our IVF cycle for now. I developed a hydrasalpinx (fluid is in both tubes) while on all the meds so I have to wait until we get to Vegas to schedule surgery to have my tubes removed. Then after a few more weeks recovery we can go back to San Diego to do the FET. The great news is that there were 6 eggs collected, 5 mature and all 5 fertilized normally and are growing normally (day two update yesterday was four at 4 cells and one at 2 cells). It is looking like we will get to freeze all 5. It is nice knowing that after all these years my husband and I can make babies, it was just my tubes causing all the trouble. There was always a little doubt that even with IVF there would be something else that came up. I know I shouldn't be so hard on myself, but I am just one of those people that if something bad can happen to me, it will. Maybe I have paid enough dues in my life thus far and this journey will have a happy ending, and be a happy beginning of the next chapter.
I am trying to stay positive. It was a little harder at first when my body was full of hormones and we're talking about delaying the transfer for about 2 months. But now that I am off all the hormones I can see the upside, though the hubs telling me it was for the better really pissed me off. I wanted to junk punch him and tell him to shut up, but I didn't and ended up having a good little cry by myself which made me feel better (and men never understand why ). I will be able to help with the move to Vegas and my ovaries can have some time to get back to normal before finishing the cycle. I won't be in a "delicate state" while trying to settle in after the move as well. It will also give me a few weeks to try and find a job before morning sickness or other pregnancy symptoms would scare away potential employers. Yes I am disappointed, but I have to put that away and think about the good that is happening and that we will have 5 little embryos waiting for us when we are ready.
The hubs and I have always only wanted one child, but we have decided that if this works and we have a healthy, happy baby, we will hold on to the unused embryos for a second year (we get 1 year storage with the cycle) in case we decided that we want to try for a second. I doubt we will, but it is a small price to pay to keep our options open.
I hope everyone is doing well and I will try to be better about checking in here more often and seeing how everyone is doing. Speaking of, I think I will do a little stalking before I sign off for now!
