Almost 8 years.
It's hard for me to believe that I was diagnosed with UC almost eight years ago. Eight!! It's flown by and there have been good times and bad times. But luckily for me there have been way more healthier times than flares. I get a flare or two a year but thankfully only two of them have been severe enough for hospitalization. After joining this group I have learned so much more about my disease through reading comments and posts than I have researching it and asking questions to my doctor.
I've had this disease for eight years and have only recently started branching off and letting people know what I have. It's been a slow process for me. For 5 years only my family knew what I had. Not even my closest friends knew what was wrong with me. But then I told my boyfriend. And over the last three years I have told at least 5 more people. Which is amazing for me because I never thought I would get to that point. Yesterday I told someone that I work with. I told him because he told me that he had Crohns disease. It's nice to talk to someone who knows what I'm going though. Though there are differences in our diseases.
Anyways, colonoscopy in less than a month to see how I'm doing.
