Almost 32 weeks and counting....
Last Sunday I made the mistake of thinking how well things have been going these past few months in my pregnancy. Then last Monday after lunch I went to the bathroom before my students were coming in from recess and realized I was bleeding... Not spotting just a smudge, but oh goodness, thank goodness I was wearing a pad, first day of period like bleeding. Talk about FREAK OUT moment. It wasn't bright red, but still not what I was expecting or hoping for. Tried to get ahold of doctor before my kids came in, only to have to leave a message. Thankfully I have a paraprofessional in my room at that time, so once I got kids started on an activity I left my room and started calling again. The stupid receptionist who I got a hold of put me to a triage nurse instead my OB, and when I explained to her what was happening she was pissed at receptionist because she knew I needed to talk to MY NURSE! Thankfully the kind triage nurse called my OB's office and pulled my doctor out of a room immediately. I panicked when they told me to come in immediately so they could hook me up, as baby had not been very active all day.
When I got to clinic I had to leave my sample and then WAIT, and WAIT... And WAIT.... My DH met me there and as we grew impatient baby at least have some reassuring kicks! I finally went up to the receptionist (who was a full in) and explained that I was told to come in immediately. I understand she was a full in, and that there was aunt checking others in because they were short staffed.... BUT REALLY?? Finally a nurse came to get us ( who was also a full in and not my regular nurse). Took me back to office, got weighed, blood pressure taken, told to strip down and wait.... And wait.... And wait... I was getting irritated because sitting on that table with only a sheet over my lap.... Not comfortable for this momma or baby. Doctor finally came in, whom I do love, just that so does everyone else in our community and she is #1 OB choice so she is swamped! She listened to baby and he/she sounded great. She did an internal examine... Holy moly owwww... My DH I think realized it isn't just me not wanting to have sex, but it is that for some reason or just hurts down there and I am super sensitive right now. Anyways... She said it looked like "old blood", possibly from when I was 18 weeks and spotted. She wanted me to stay off work until all bleeding stopped and is sending me to the socialist this week Thursday for an ultrasound to just make sure all is okay. My cervix is high and closed, so that was reassuring. They did hook me up to fetal monitor to watch baby's heart rate and check for contractions. After 10 minutes the nurse came in and said baby looked great on the printout, but protocol was 20 minutes. At that point I didn't mind, as listening to the baby's heartbeat and having to focus on every movement really helped me to focus on the miracle inside me.
Spotting stopped Friday finally, but then I got the nasty stomach virus Saturday and Sunday.... Worse than morning sickness by far!!! Not fun to be puking at almost 31 weeks, and scary because I couldn't keep water down for over 18 hours. I had given myself another hour or two before I thought DH would have to take me to the ER to make sure I was okay and not dehydrated. Needless to say, I am on the mend. I am looking forward to Thursday to see my little "green bean" again, as it has been over 10 weeks since my last ultrasound. As I was sick I watched 19 and Counting on Netflix... Another story for another day, but was reassured a little to see that their 19th was born at 25 weeks and made it, so I am at the point where I am comfortable being at 32 weeks. Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to make it full term, but my panic feeling is lessened ( not gone until baby is in my arms) because I know he or she will make it.

Oh man! I had that horrible stomach virus too! Glad you\'re feeling better! I obsessively track gestation week vs. health at birth since The norm for triplets is 32 weeks. At 32 weeks most babies are born with no lasting health problems but require 1-2 months in the NICU. That starts drastically reducing around 34 weeks. You\'re right there! You can definitely feel some relief :)
Oh how scarey! So glad all is well with your precious baby!
