All results will be in today!
The rest of my results will be in today. Last week the news was laid out on me and the only question running through my mind and out of my mouth was"How long do I have?" I hardly heard anything the doctors had to say. I was so surprised that I had MDS as when I was reading up on all the "bad" outcomes of my bone marrow biopsy I skipped MDS because I am young!! Stupid me! :). I spoke to my doctor on Tuesday and I asked him questions and what I got was -refractory anemia with unilineage dysplasia. Today I will find out if I have 5q- as well as other things. I am ready for this appointment. I have knowledge and questions now.Wish me luck! And for those who are like me, talk with our man upstairs and ask him to give me strength whatever the news may be! Have a great day, feel well, and enjoy yourself!

good luck today hon. try not to worry too much. I know easier said than done!
one day at a time-and know the group is with you
I got the rest of my results. First my hg held at 8.3 so no transfusion today. Yippee! I got a shot of aranesp, my first one, hopefully it will help. My wbc and platelets are normal, another yippee! I start Revlimid 5mg next week, fingers crossed that it works without too many side effects. My cytogenetic testing showed no chromosome abnormalities, I was hoping for 5q-, weird right! My actual diagnosis is MPN/MDS. Although right now I am stable and things look good, I will eventually need a bmt. My doctor said if I was thirty years older I would be in great position but being 36 he wants to nip this disease in the bud, not right this second but within the next year. I feel ready to tackle this thing. I do. Thank you for being such great supporters, I am so glad I came to this board! xx
Jeanine,
Your positive outlook and spirit will serve you well!! Let\'s pray the Revlimid works really well with minimal side effects, and that bmt is just a distant memory!!
I don\'t think there are any of us are stupid- you included :)!! Why would any of us think we have MDS? None of us are statistics. We are people, and our body\'s don\'t follow the rules. Neither does disease.
Continue to fight!! I proud to have you as a fellow warrior!
