All About Ed
My new friend Cebdragonfly who is new to DS asked me to talk about Eddie in a journal & I realized I have not written about who Eddie was/is for a while now.
Ed was one of the kindest people I have ever known. He was one of those people who people say,"would give you the shirt off his back." He was a good friend and saw 2 dear friends through the terminal illnesses of their moms and their moms subsequent deaths. His friend Donna, who is my newly adopted daughter - she needed a mom & I needed a kid, lol, lost her mom in 2005 to stomach cancer. Her mom was 55. Ed's best friend Mike lost his mom the following October to leukemia. She was 57. Ed spent many hours at the hospital with these 2 friends & held them as they said goodbye to their moms and allowed them to cry and talk as much as they needed to. In fact Mike said to me that only Ed & I remembered his mom's angel date each year -now its only me....
Eddie was with his childhood sweetheart for much of his adult life. They had 2 children together, Joshua & Christina. They were together 12 yeaqrs when my DIL asked Ed to move out. He was devastated but did as she asked. They remained best friends and co-parented well. We even, after the break up still had holidays together. When Ed passed Elaine asked to be described in his obituary as partner & best friend. Ed's children meant more to him than anything and when he wasn't working he was spending time with them. The night he passed away the kids were with him until 1:00am & he passed sometime during the night. His children are heartbroken.
Ed was a believer and had a strong faith in his Savior - Jesus. He wasn't perfect but that is the gift of God's grace. We do not have to be perfect to be accepted into Paradise. I believe my son is with God & I have ben blessed to receive many signs. Thank you God!! Thank you Ed!!
And Eddie was a beautiful child, rough & defiant in his adolescence, but as an adult was so kind and helpful and my best friend. We talked about everything. He was one of the few men that was comfortable talking about feelings. He was very funny too. His co-workers talked a lot about how he made everyone at work laugh everyday.
Being his mom was & is my greatest honor and joy.
Thank you Cebdragonfly for reminding me to share Eddie. As I talk about him I can feel his sweet spirit and essence.
Heavenly Father -thank you for the gift of Eddie. I miss him.
