After nearly a quarter of a century...
I have a safe place I repair to on occasion. It's a karaoke bar, of all places...and a sort of magnet for singers, or simply a haven people who just want to give it a try. I go there to sing, and not to get intoxicated, so it's a boon to my well-being, as opposed to a detriment.
As it happened, I ran into an old friend I hadn't seen but once since 1990. We'd both done some growing since then (freshman year of high school!), and it was a great thing just to catch up on two decades worth of life in general. It made me realize a connection to the past, and that whatever happens in the past can come back around full circle when you least expect it. To my enjoyment, this was a positive example of the "full circle".
Since I was diagnosed with schizophrenia, I've been trying to piece together my history. Some of it has been the resurrection of huge chunks that have fallen by the wayside, while others consist of brief (but interesting) encounters. All of it had a part in shaping my somewhat stunted existence thus far...but I've decided to use it as a grand summation, as well as a jumping-off point for the hereafter. I do plan on living some more, after all. Everything that happens is just another piece of the puzzle, and each time another one clicks into place, I feel more complete.
It's that completion I seek...
