Affirmation for September 6, 2011: Being Who You Are

Do you want to know who you are? Don't ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you. - Thomas Jefferson
As children, we dream about who we want to become. We spend our teenage years planning out our courses and studying hard to get into a higher education that will lead us to who we think we are. We hit that stage and begin to question the path we are taking. We create more plans for after school when we hit the "real world". We wake up in the mornings and make "To-do" lists. We plan, plan, plan and question ourselves over and over, "Is this what I really want to be doing?"
Put down the pencil, and simply go for that dream or goal. Let your will and actions carry you to where you want to be. Plans can sometimes create an inflexible frame that could lead to doubt or fall apart at the last minute causing us to feel lost and confused. Equipt with common sense and our years of personal experience (as well as those experiences from our trusted friends), we have the capacity to get on the right track towards our goals and find ourselves.
Go Ahead!

In the words of Yoda...Do or do not there is no try. (That is for my husband the Star Wars fan.)

I think being yourself is so important. And it is the only job in life that each of us is sure to do well at. We are no good at trying to be someone else so we might as well be ourselves. There is no one else like you you are an original. No one else has your fingerprints or your signature and no one else can tell you what you ought to do with your life. You have to follow your own path and live out your own destiny.
