Affirmation for September 13, 2011: Letting the Golden Hours Slip By to Make Golden Memories
You must have been warned against letting the golden hours slip by; but some of them are golden only because we let them slip by. James M. Barrie
Thought of the Day:
Sometimes it feels like time is constantly running away. We constantly schedule and budget our hours from the moment we wake up to the time our heads hit the pillows at exactly 11:00pm. The most productive stuff must be done during the sunny hours of the day. We must finish these tasks on the hour so we won't be behind for tomorrow... so we can get ahead for next week... It feels like these are the thoughts that are constantly whizzing through our minds day in and day out - getting today done so we can get a jump on tomorrow. Work, work, work. The idea of spending an hour or two idling away, even simply meeting a friend for tea, can, at times, seem like big commitments put right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of our already full day. When we think about it, though, aren't these spontaneous moments what make our lives memorable?
Visiting a friend, going to a popular movie, or simply relaxing for a full day away from our day planners and similar distractions may help us find balance in the chaos of our lives that we are constantly pulling back into order.
If something spontaneous knocks at your door, today, welcome it in and put the hustle and bustle down. There's no shame or lasting consequence of making what could become a golden moment.
Have a Great Day!
