Affirmation for October 19, 2010: Oh Procrastination

I've been looking over the list of spring chores I made up last fall, and darned if they aren't fall chores, after all.
- Robert Brault, www.robertbrault.comThought of the day:New years' resolutions, chores, and scrapbooking are just a few of the things that tend to fall by the wayside over time, especially when life gets busy. What are some ways we can buckle down and just do what we set out to do? Here are a couple tips:1) If it's a project that will take a few hours to get done, get out your calendar and reserve time for it, just like an appointment. And then, take the things you need and do it outside the house, at a cafe or a friend's home perhaps. Getting away from the house will help you avoid distractions and be better able to focus on the task at hand.2) Did you know that psychologically, it's easier to continue or finish a task than to start one? If you have been putting something off, get up right now and start it, even if you don't have time to finish it. Picking it up later might prove to be easier than starting it.3) Enlist a buddy, and tell them what you're trying to do. Especially if that person has accomplished it already, and may be able to give some wise advice. That person will help you stay accountable, and support you throughout.
