Affirmation for November 4, 2011: Companionate Love

Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other but in looking outward in the same direction. - Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Thought of the Day:
When we feel we've fallen in love with another person, we have strong physical passion and eventually that passion seems to settle. Psychologically, our mind goes through phases as a relationship matures. It begins with strong physical attraction and the need to always be together. It then moves onto a more friendly relationship where the couple simply enjoys each other thoughts and ideas.
Many times we confuse the loss of "passion" for a loss of love, when in fact it is simply a transition into a longer term and mature relationship. A couple is a team of two where you battle the struggles of every day life as well as enjoy in the little celebrations earned. When two people think on the same page, there is nothing but harmony. We easily lose sight of the bigger picture - of the direction we want to grow in with our significant other.
Take a moment today and think about the bigger picture and embrace your companionate love for each other.
Have a lovely day!
