Affirmation for November 15, 2011: Diffusing Anger
Always write angry letters to your enemies. Never mail them.- James Fallows
Thought of the Day:
There are countless times where we find our anger getting the best of us. We throw words that we know are hurtful and quickly wish we could take them back. Instead of dealing with our issues in a rational way, we find ourselves falling to our baser personalities throwing cheap blows and hurting the ones who love us.
Sometimes all we need to do is let off that extra steam. Writing a letter and throwing it out, venting to a journal, or talking it out with someone can help us avoid hurting people we don't mean to hurt. It's easy to let our emotions get the best of us and cloud our rationality, but it can also be easy to quell them and tackle our problems in a peaceful manner.
