Affirmation for May 3, 2011: Keeping Busy Can Lift Your Mood

A great preservative against angry and mutinous thoughts, and all impatience and quarreling, is to have some great business and interest in your mind, which, like a sponge shall suck up your attention and keep you from brooding over what displeases you.- Joseph RickabyThought of the day:Idleness can sometimes breed mischief and even depressive thoughts. Keeping busy on the other hand, with fulfilling and challenging projects, can have the opposite effect, and foster feelings of achievement and satisfaction. If you find yourself with a lot of time on your hands, venture out and find a group to join or a skill to learn. Joining a book club is a great way to meet new friends and become acquainted with literature. Creating a fitness goal can be both challenging and rewarding as you work your way to a healthier body, and can often lead to being part of a larger community of people with the same goals. Learning to draw, sing, or dance is fun and may become a wonderful creative outlet you've never experienced before. The possibilities are endless!TeamDS

Good reminder, keeping busy does help me stay positive. I like to plan fun events to do with friends, for example.

One thing the doctor always tells me is that the worst thing for my illness is doing nothing and some days I honestly feel like doing nothing but when I distract myself I do forget for that little bit about my troubles especially when I am doing my art :)
