Affirmation for May 27, 2010: Hang In There

Fall seven times, stand up eight.- Japanese ProverbThought of the day:Today's quote is reminiscent of a scene in the classic movie, "Cool Hand Luke," starring Paul Newman, when Luke refused to stay down during a boxing match with a man much bigger than him. Though it seemed like he was on the losing end, the respect he earned from the crowd because of his perseverance was what made him the true winner of the match.
Sometimes it feels as though our troubles are that "bigger bully," and the odds seem against us. But take heart in your own ability to stand back up, because as long as you do, you can never lose.Have a cherished day!TeamDS

Thanks SO MUCH for reminding me of the need to stand up after each time I fall down. Especially when I\'m having a bad day, it\'s so much easier for me to stay down with my nose in the mud instead of getting up & continue walking. Thank you for reminding me that I can do it myself, and even more so if there\'s a buddy who cares deeply about me who will take hold of my hand & gently lift me up & give me a shoulder to lean on as I hobble along the first few hundred yards before I\'m strong enough to walk on my own again. Hmmm, I wonder if this is the story of my life or just plain wishful thinking? :-(

Investigations of very successful people to find what sets them apart always lead to the same conclusion...they failed often, sometimes spectacularly...but they just got up and tried again. They never gave up...that\'s what made them different from the ordinary person.

Failure is not a bad thing, the most successful people fail more than the rest of us. And many of them were very sickly in their early years...yet they rose up to overcome these deficiencies or succeed in spite of them.

Robert Louis Stevenson was plagued by tuberculosis most of his life, yet I would say he was a successful author, wouldn\'t you?

I love this one and it\'s so true. One I like is that \"It doesn\'t matter if you win or loose but how you play the game.\" I feel this one is so true to life in that the only way you loose in life is if you give up.
